Wills & Trusts - Small Estates

We recommend at a minimum that individuals have a basic estate plan for small estates that make provision for young couples, individuals with minor children, individuals with no children and/or for people who have mostly exempt assets or non-taxable estates for estate tax purposes. A small estate-estate plan consists of a Will with a general disposition of assets to beneficiaries of your choice, guardianship provisions and minors’ trust provisions where appropriate, a Power of Attorney, Medical Power of Attorney, HIPAA Release and Living Will. This basic plan if drafted properly will provide the individual the opportunity to decide the distribution of their property at death, the guardian of their minor children, the trustee over their minor children’s inheritance and representatives that can step into the individual’s shoes and make financial and medical decisions in the event the individual is unable to do so for himself.
